Here are some pictures of Saturday's playdate with Adi consisting of much playing, epic dishwashing and cookie decorating. There may have been some cookie eating too!

Sent Adi home with a whole pile of things that Elizabeth insisted on giving her. I let her because Elizabeth tends to be somewhat possessive of her "stuff"!

The girls were overheard planning out their next play date already...

I've been wanting to make "snow cream" all winter, so when we received an unexpected storm we decided to take advantage.

Elizabeth was especially thrilled because it was perfect packing snow and she could make a snowman. Sadly the snow cream was not quite all I had hoped - I think packing snow must not be the right sort of snow as it was very grainy! We'll have to try again next year...

Our tenant Laura is moving out. Elizabeth is sad to be losing her "second floor buddy".

We will miss her!

For Elizabeth's last day of skating, they told the kids to dress up like the Olympics. Elizabeth decided she could be a figure skater and wear a "ballet" costume.

When we arrived, it turned out she was the ONLY kid on the ice that actually dressed up, except for one other kid who happened to be in her class. He was wearing Canada Olympic gear though, so not as obviously dressed up. She took one look at all the other kids lacing up and declared: "That's it, we have to go home RIGHT NOW so I can change my costume." But I talked her into getting on the ice and she had a good time. It helped that teacher Zack is pretty great at what he does - such a fluid skater that kept the class moving constantly (they all wanted to chase him everywhere).

Elizabeth's finished her Kindergliders 4 levels now which means she can skate backwards, jump and skate on one leg. She really loves skating and is sad that she doesn't get to take any more classes until September. But she's come up with a solution - she's going to take ballet instead, because "they wear similar costumes"

Field trip to see the sugar shack at the Vanier Museopark! It was pretty cold and the buckets were full of frozen sap - I guess we'll have to go back another time to see the sap actually dripping out of the trees. Elizabeth didn't mind because she got to take the bus with best friend Adrienne. And Mommy, but that was a secondary consideration. Elizabeth and Adrienne were the only kids from her class that got to go on the field trip because not enough parents volunteered, so we tagged along with another class ("the funny teacher's class", according to Elizabeth, because that teacher is always teasing her.)

There were pancakes, and hot chocolate, and maple taffy... I think Elizabeth's favourite part was playing hide and seek in the bushes with Adi though.

While Elizabeth was having fun at the sugar shack, Matthew was hanging out with Auntie Yukiko.

She posted a couple of photos on Facebook, along with hilarious updates to keep us in the loop:

"Yukiko's babysitting service -> My nephew, Matthew (13 1/2 months) Bonus ... He can learn some Japanese language. Plus he saw some Japanese cuisine (My breakfast)" and "He is learning kanji!"
