April Fool's

Growing up, my family always celebrated April Fool's day with green food colouring.  I have no idea why, but I do know that for many years I thought that microwaving eggs turned them bright green.

This morning I came downstairs to find my porridge green.  Not the bright playdough green of my youth though, so I was able to eat it.  Apparently Daddy decided we need to pass the family "tradition" on to Elizabeth!

Auntie Janice later confessed that she was tempted to colour the milk, but was discouraged by recent media coverage questioning the safety of food dyes. (The FDA ruled that food dyes don't need the extra labelling for now but further study is required).  I was just as happy not to have to drink a whole litre of green milk.  It's really surprising how much colour affects your perception of taste.  As far as I'm concerned, bright green milk just tastes weird.

Next year it's Elizabeth's turn to choose the colour of the milk... :)
