I was pretty worried that our quilt would be out of place at a quilt show, given my overall experience level. Certainly the pieces I worked on had a lot of errors! Turns out I was right to worry - some of the quilts were pretty incredible. Like the one that had a 3D effect. Or the one that looked machine quilted, except for the fact that the stitches were a little too close together and too small. Some of the quilts were tiny, others were huge. The quilting was exquisite. One had over 5000 pieces and had been worked on for a decade.
The show was on mother's day, and we were able to take both moms to the show. Brendan's came in person, and mine came via Skype from Africa.
We won 2nd place viewer's choice, which was pretty flattering. I was even more surprised when we read the pretty favourable critique later, but encouraged. So it's official. The quilt IS pretty cool, mistakes and all.
Speaking of mother's day - Elizabeth bought me flowers, with her "own money". They were "roses" (aka begonias) and they might be the most beautiful flowers I've ever received.
